Antique Black Maria Tin Tobacco Tag 1870s - 1910s Made by Taylor Bros, Winston, North Carolina1" x 1/3" ~
After the Civil War demand for South tobacco soared. Since the competition was so tight tobacco companies issued these tags from 1870 to 1930 to identify themselves. This also helped prevent people from buying someone else inferior product as it made it harder for store owners to "refill" the tobacco with an inferior product.
This is in absolutely amazing condition for the age. You don't see many like this especially with the prongs intact and not flattened out to store in a book etc.
This is an antique item.
