When the ad-men decided to call steel alloys stainless, they were creating a marketing myth.
No alloy has every good attribute--some are better suited to one purpose or another.  More stain resistance means a harder metal which is more brittle.  FF-1 pliers are quite stain resistant and with minimal care will last a long time.  Unfortunately, not many things last forever, but take care of your pliers by rinsing in fresh water if using in a salt environment.  Don't be tempted to cut metal, they simply are not designed for that.
